Deputy Heathcott, 52 was involved in a single-vehicle accident on 7th Standard Road just west of Highway 99 while on duty. The accident occurred on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at about 0045 hours. Deputy Heathcott struck a metal guard rail in the center divider while traveling westbound on 7th Standard Road in Bakersfield, CA. The metal porting of the guard rail pierced through the passenger side of Deputy Heathcott's patrol vehicle leaving him pinned in inside for nearly 90 minutes before being extricated out by Kern County fire fighters.

Deputy Heathcott was taken to Kern Medical Center with major facial and head injuries that appeared to be life-threating. Deputy Heathcott is a 13-year veteran of the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

The foundation is happy to report that Deputy Heathcott is now out of the hospital and at home recovering from his injuries. It is too soon to report on the status of his injuries and how long it will take for Deputy Heathcott to recover from this horrible accident.

Please come out and help us support a local hero in his time of need.
